I've researched a bit and found the the most common definition of marriage is:
The legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife.
Now, I'm not homophobic and I believe in the rights of individuals to do as they wish in the privacy of their own homes... but I tend to disagree with same-sex marriages... tend might be too soft a term I suppose - if I had to draw a line in the sand, I'd draw it on the side against same-sex marriages.
First, I'm conservative... second, I'm religious... both of these camps are fairly vocal against same-sex marriages in most cases. I don't necessarily fall into either of these "camps" on every topic, but I do on this one. Ultimately, I look at my marriage... and my daughter... and I can't help but believe that this is what was intended by our creator. Not that every waking moment is bliss, but I am so very happy with my family life.
When I try and put myself into the shoes of a homosexual, I can't help but think that their fundamental guidelines for the family structure are the same as mine. I can't imagine that they think I man and another man can possibly create the kind of family unit that I think about when I think of my grandparents... or even my parents and my life as a child. Maybe that is how they think... I really don't know since I'm not personally friends with or close to any homosexuals. But if you're homosexual... think about your mom for a few moments. What if she was a lesbian? I suppose the same question can be asked in regards to abortion... what if your mom had one? *shrugs*
Anyhow, I'm not trying to bash anyone here... just chiming in on a controversial topic that I'm curious to know how others here feel. I have a few polar opposites in the crowd here so I always learn a lot by hearing your well thought-out and intelligent posts that poke me in the ribs.
As far as websites, I've only found one that really has a "decent" flavor that doesn't seem to be bashing but seems to have well constructed and respectful information, all while coming from the same point of view as myself.
