You know... what Clinton did in his personal life was actually none of our business, and something that should have remained between him, his wife, and his family. The notion that we have a right to know every waking, breathing moment of our public servants' lives is ludicrous. And frankly, what happened with regards to the affair had absolutely nothing to do with how he served our country -- and in fact, the inquiry and impeachment proceedings over a blowjob show how desperate people were to get him out of office.
And... I can thank God and blast Christians in the same sentence. That's the irony of religion. Everyone thinks THEIR God is the proper one to worship. Personally, I think everyone's got it wrong in that matter, but then, this isn't that thread. hehe
Regardless of morals and ethics, the points that Phoenix made were true. Slavery was not against the law, and was not seen as immoral or unethical by those in the south (remember... there was a fairly big war over the issue); the fact is that whether or not sexuality is a chosen or biological trait, there is discrimination against same sex couples and the rights afforded straight couples.
