I dislike Howard Stern, or at least his show. He's supposed to be "shocking", yet he only comes out as being stupid. I shed no tears over the cancellation of his show, but it dosen't make much difference to me, as I don't listen or watch his show.

As a matter of fact, so far as I can tell, no local radio station plays his show. His TV show is on at like 3 AM sandwiched between two infomercials.

As for Janet Jackson.. I didn't see the bewb except for after the fact, and I wasn't really offended by it, but I agree that it shouldn't be during the superbowl, in the middle of primetime. I am, after all, not a parent, and not a child.. and as a researcher of the bosom, I can tell you that Janet's specimen was more frightening than shocking or offensive.

Is there a correlation between the Howard Stern show and the Janet incident? Not directly. If I am watching Howard Stern, I expect to hear about female body parts, hookers, and lesbians. If I am watching the superbowl half-time show, I expect to see clothed people singing and dancing and whatnot (like has happened in every other superbowl there ever was).

I know what Howard Stern is all about, I can turn his show off.. but if I turn on a show like the local news, I expect the news anchors to be fully clothed at all time. If one of them were, for some reason, nude.. it would not be appropriate.

If the FCC band Stern's show, is it a violation of free speech? No. Free Speech does not protect profanity or vulgarity in a public medium. You cannot, for instance, walk around in the local mall naked and claim that you are exercising your free speech against clothing.

Basically, your freedom ends where someone else's begins.

Is Stern's show a violation of some obscure FCC law or regulation? Only they can tell. I'll let the legal folks decide that one.

Regarding women, girls, and self-image. I've never been a girl, so I never really understood this insatiable desire that some women have to "be thin". "be healthy" is one thing, but when you weigh like 120 there ain't nothing wrong with you.

They already did that, eli. They fined clearchannel stations across the nation over 700,000 bucks for playing him.

As for bosoms, let's face it: bosoms rock. Natural bosoms do. Fake bosoms are inferior. I'd much rather deal with smaller natural bosoms than large fake ones.
