In the end, what does it really matter? Shouldn't we all celebrate our differences and get on in life? All this classification is counterproductive.

What do I call the child of a black man and a white woman? A human being.

I mean, honestly, throughout history, even when the world was really small, heritage and "mixing of the races" was a big issue. Shouldn't we be beyond that by now? I mean, I know many people aren't, but shouldn't we be.

Of course, the human prediliction for hate, fear, and wanton destruction seem to be the forefront of our species. How sad.

Oh for crying out loud... the problem is, EVERYONE is part of a minority group:

Some people have blue eyes, some have green.
Some people have red hair, some have blond.
Some people are left handed.
Some people have innies, some have outies.
Some women have huge breasts, some have tiny, some are in between.
Some men have very long endowments, some are very short, some are thick, some are thin, some are in between.
Some men have to shave every day, some once a month.
Some women have to shave every day, some once a month.
Some people wear their hair long, some short, some have curls, some have waves, some don't.
Some have freckles, some have moles, some have birthmarks.
Some have tight buns, some have big buns, some have no buns.
Some people like hotdogs, some like bologna, some like liver.
Some people are black, some are white, some are pale, some are tan, some are brown, some are cream, some are olive...
Some people wear glasses, some don't, and those that don't may or may not have contacts.
Some people can read.
Some people can write.
Some people can write very well.
Some are articulate, some couldn't pronounce pyrodoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6, in case you're wondering).
Some know the chemical name of vitamin B6, some don't.
Some are computer experts, some couldn't plug one in.
Some can sew, some couldn't tie their shoes.

I mean, really. In some fashion, EVERYONE is part of a minority. And yes, the reason that some minorities are pointed out is that our society is so dumb on certain levels that they have to point such things out.

Everyone wants everyone else to be "normal." Just like them. If only they would look in the mirror and realize that absolutely, positively NO ONE on the face of planet Earth is "normal." There may be things that a majority of people do, but that does not make them right. Maybe 75% of America likes football. Does that mean the other 25% should be scorned? Maybe 75% like baseball, but of that 75%, 50% also like football. Does that mean that 25% who do not like baseball like football? I mean, really. There are millions upon millions upon millions of characteristics, choices, ideas that make each and everyone one of us unique -- and rather than embracing those differences, we'd rather try to make ourselves feel superior over someone else by trying to exploit or point out those differences.

Of course, I realize this is an overgeneralization, and that not everyone in the human race feels this way... It's just a shame that we can't get past fearing difference.
